Layr Systems partnered on the Quion Hotel rooftop amenity space to deliver a custom elevated deck solution designed specifically for modern hospitality environments. The project combined the natural warmth of 24” x 24” IPE wood deck tiles with the timeless appearance of Full Color Bluestone 2CM porcelain pavers to create a sophisticated and highly functional rooftop experience.
Installed using the Layr LevelPro Pedestal System, the elevated assembly provided a perfectly level walking surface while allowing for concealed drainage, protection of the waterproofing membrane, and simplified long-term maintenance access.
In the heart of Wilmington, Delaware, The Quoin Hotel is one of the city’s most distinctive boutique hotels. Set within a historic early-20th-century building, the project transformed a long-underused property into a luxury destination that blends preserved architectural character with modern design and functionality.
Originally constructed as a commercial bank building in downtown Wilmington, the property carried decades of architectural history within its masonry façade, structural framework, and urban footprint. The redevelopment team embraced the building’s historic bones while introducing refined modern amenities that would elevate the guest experience. The result is a hospitality environment where old-world craftsmanship and modern luxury coexist seamlessly.
In addition to the main rooftop deck areas, the project included the design and installation of a complex custom access ramp and integrated stair system utilizing FRP structural support trays and pedestal assemblies. This custom-engineered approach allowed the project team to achieve challenging elevation transitions while maintaining structural stability, drainage performance, and ADA-friendly accessibility throughout the rooftop environment.
The completed rooftop space blends premium aesthetics with commercial-grade durability, delivering a modern outdoor environment for hotel guests and visitors.
